The JL 2‑Door Aluminum Belly Skids — 2.0 Turbo deliver advanced underbody protection for JL Wrangler owners who tackle demanding terrain, technical obstacles, and long trail days. Engineered to safeguard the engine, transmission, transfer case, DEF tank, and fuel tank, these skids replace vulnerable factory components with a stronger, lighter, and more thoughtfully designed system built for real off‑road use.
Full belly skids cover the largest footprint under your JL, making material choice essential when weight matters. Aluminum belly skids offer substantial protection with far less weight than comparable steel systems, making them ideal for 2‑door builds where every pound matters.
You can find out more about the features of our skid system, and how it installs, in the video below:
These skids are built from 1/4" thick 5052 aluminum, chosen for its superior formability and strength compared to many other alloys. The design and shape of each skid plate determine long‑term rigidity, and these are engineered to maintain their structure even after repeated impacts.
Bolt heads are tucked up and out of the way wherever possible—visible on the rear crossmember and fuel tank skids—to reduce snag points and improve slide performance.
Removal of the factory gas tank skid is required, resulting in a 3/4" gain in ground clearance and shedding the weight of the factory steel skid and other underbody components replaced by this system. The aluminum skid system weighs 104 lbs (or 110 lbs with the optional e‑torque skid), but the net weight gain is offset by the removal of factory steel components.
These skids are designed with compatibility in mind for popular aftermarket suspension systems—including Rock Krawler Long Arm kits with minimal modifications—larger axles, and multiple engine configurations (including the 6.4 Hemi seen in some photos).
Products are designed to fit vehicles with varying factory tolerances; minor hand‑fitting may be required. Bare aluminum may show surface imperfections from handling and fabrication—these are easily concealed with textured powder coat. Smooth finishes may require additional prep work. Lead times are estimates and may vary due to production realities. All Next Venture Motorsports products are laser cut, CNC formed, and hand‑welded in Colorado, USA.
